AT A GLANCE

The current app runs locally. This website has no sign-in, analytics scripts, advertising or payment collection. Connecting a YouTube channel is strictly optional; local editing and exports do not require it.

01. Who runs this service

StreamShorts is operated by the StreamShorts Team. This policy covers this information website and the current local Windows application. The application is currently intended for the developer's personal use and development testing, with any separately arranged reviewer access limited to evaluation. It is not currently a public SaaS service.

We may offer a SaaS service after further improvement and testing. Before introducing hosted processing, public accounts or subscriptions, we will publish a policy explaining the actual data practices of that service and obtain any consent required for new processing. This policy does not authorize additional collection or sharing merely because a future service is contemplated.

Privacy questions and requests: contact@thestreamshorts.com.

02. Visiting this website

The website does not set application cookies, use browser storage, load advertising or analytics trackers, or collect videos or Google credentials. Images and styles are served from the same website.

The hosting provider may process ordinary access and security logs, including your IP address, requested URL, browser information, timestamp and response status, to deliver and protect the website. Log retention depends on the server configuration; contact us for the retention setting in effect on the deployed site.

If you email us, your email provider and ours process that message. We receive the contact information and contents you choose to send, and use them to respond to your request. Please do not send passwords, OAuth client secrets, authorization tokens or private recordings. The email-app button starts a draft with our public address and a suggested subject in your configured email application. The Gmail button opens Google's Gmail website only when you select it, requesting a draft with our public address and a suggested subject. You review, write and send the message yourself. No message is sent automatically. Gmail may require sign-in and its own privacy and cookie terms apply.

03. Data in the desktop app

The application reads recordings you select and stores working data on your computer. Depending on the features you use, that data includes:

  • Where your recordings are saved, their length and your project settings.
  • Working files such as previews, saved progress, clip boundaries, caption drafts and captions.
  • Rendered videos, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, tags and publishing schedules.
  • Task history, errors and status information used to resume work and diagnose problems.

Speech recognition runs on your computer. Initial setup downloads the components the app needs, but your audio is never sent to an online speech-recognition service. The app's own screen uses a session cookie to protect changes you make in it.

StreamShorts needs an internet connection to run, but your recordings are processed on your computer and are never uploaded to our servers. When paid plans launch, the app will contact our servers to verify your subscription, sending your license key and basic app and device details. Any future feature that relies on our servers will send only limited technical information, never your video or audio. Clips you choose to upload to YouTube are sent to YouTube, as described in the next section.

The current software does not automatically send its local library or activity history to the developer. You are responsible for choosing recordings you are entitled to process and handling other people's personal information lawfully; this does not remove any privacy obligations that independently apply to the developer. We cannot remotely inspect or delete files on your computer.

04. Optional YouTube connection

The app uses YouTube API Services. Connecting your channel is strictly optional. You can use highlight detection, editing, caption drafts and local exports without it. If you choose to connect, Google asks you to authorize access. Google handles your password; StreamShorts does not request or store it.

The current desktop client requests youtube.force-ssl, a broad permission that Google describes as access to see, edit and permanently delete videos, ratings, comments and captions. The app currently uses it to identify the connected channel, upload selected exports, inspect upload status and recent uploads for recovery, and change an uploaded video's visibility or remove its schedule when you request that action. It does not offer comment management or a remote video-deletion feature.

The app stores the OAuth client configuration, access/refresh tokens, channel title and ID, uploads-playlist ID, video IDs, upload-session information and publishing status locally. These support your requested connection, uploads, recovery and scheduling. Enabling unattended publishing explicitly allows the configured future workflow; connecting alone does not publish every recording.

Selected video files and metadata are sent to Google when you authorize uploading. Connection and API requests also expose normal network information, such as your IP address, to Google. Google's handling of that information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

05. Sharing and external services

We do not sell personal information or use Google user data for advertising, profiling or unrelated purposes. Google authorization is used for the optional channel features you request, not as blanket permission to collect other Google Account data. The local app does not transmit recordings to the developer or use them to train a shared AI model.

Google receives information necessary for the YouTube actions you authorize. Setup and updates download software components from their distributors, who receive standard connection information such as your IP address. If you use a link-based import, requests are made to the source provider; an OAuth connection is not permission to download YouTube audiovisual content.

Website hosting and email providers process website requests and messages to operate those services. Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law. External links open services with their own terms and privacy practices.

06. Retention, disconnection and deletion

Recordings and projects: local files remain until you remove or archive them. The app's cleanup tool deletes selected old intermediate files, not all project data. Original recordings, completed downloads, final exports and saved progress are kept.

Disconnect locally: this removes the app's saved sign-in for your channel and pauses publishing. It does not revoke Google's authorization, remove your saved connection settings, or erase your projects and upload history.

Revoke Google access: visit your Google Account permissions and remove StreamShorts's access. The current desktop build does not automatically purge its entire library after revocation.

Erase the local app's stored data: close the app and delete the folder where it keeps its settings, credentials and working files, using your operating system. Back up exports you want to keep first. This removes settings, credentials, working files and any recordings stored there; original files outside that folder remain. Copies or backups elsewhere must be removed separately. Deleting local data does not delete your YouTube videos; manage those in YouTube Studio.

Messages sent to us: contact the email below to request access, correction or deletion of information you sent directly. We retain correspondence only as needed to handle the request and any applicable legal obligations. We may ask for reasonable information to verify a request and protect it from unauthorized disclosure. Do not send your password, OAuth credentials or identity documents unless a specific, necessary and secure verification process has first been explained. Rights of access, correction, deletion and complaint depend on applicable law; contact us to exercise them. Information genuinely needed to meet a legal obligation or address a dispute may need to be retained; where permitted, we will explain the reason instead of promising unconditional deletion.

07. Security and your choices

The app's screen can only be opened from your own computer, and changes made in it are protected by session checks. Sign-in credentials are stored on your computer and protected by your Windows account permissions, but they are not encrypted. Keep your device, accounts and backups secure, and never share the app's stored data.

You can use editing and exports without connecting YouTube, leave captions disabled, decline an upload, pause publishing and revoke authorization. No system is perfectly secure, and these descriptions are not a guarantee against every incident. Report a suspected privacy or security issue using the contact below; include a description of what happened without posting credentials publicly. We will take steps and provide notices where required by applicable law. Describing user responsibilities does not waive your statutory rights or the developer's own legal obligations.

The current preview is intended for the adult operator and invited adult reviewers. It is not offered as a service directed to children. Any future hosted service, billing or additional data processing will be described in an updated policy before introduction.

08. Questions and policy updates

Contact the StreamShorts Team at contact@thestreamshorts.com for privacy questions, complaints or requests. This page's updated date records revisions. Material changes to the service's data handling will be explained before that processing is introduced.
